John set foot back in his tent discarding his vest and falling down on his cot, loosening his tie. Him and the three others had just got back from Nimbas and he was exhausted. "Damn politicians, damn this spy nonsense, damn everything." He felt his anger had returned sometime during the return trip. His eyes fell on his vest that held the viles that woman gave him. 'That stuff affects who I really am, and I have no idea how it does it.' John had avoided using the stuff because he had no idea on how it works in the human body. His head fell back down on his pillow. "Gods I hope I don't have to do anything like that soon."

Leena had been receiving reports on john and Lethe's progress since they contacted her spy network. Apparently her dear brother wasn't very appreciated by them. They had given her a very negative take on their antics. And it wasn't even certain their original objective would be met at all. Her girls had allerted her to John's return. She'd leave him be for now. His punishment could wait until he'd familiarized himself with the changes in the camp. Her brother on the other hand was going to regret doing that witch yet another favor. Leena couldn't stand the self proclaimed Queen and never would.

John got back up throwing off his tie. Better go see how Bain is holding up, and if the troops are holding together. He walked through the camp looking for Bain for better part of an hour. He pulled a soldier to the side and asked about him. "He left quite awhile back. I think he knew the Captains could handle it." The soldier went off doing whatever he was doing. He marched to find his Captains next. The day was nearly over so their training had finished.
The training regimen he had set up had been kept to the 'T' even when Bain was gone. "Would've like it if he stayed liked I asked." He had one place to check up on before he went to sleep. He knocked on the wooden post in the interest. "I'm sure you know this already, but I'm back Leena."

"Indeed, John." She didn't look up from the endless coded reports on her desk. "I hear you made some friends while playing jail break." Leena smiled to herself. "You guys created a whole lot of friction between governments." The scratching of her pen paused. "Was I unclear that your job was too cool the situation there not fan the flames?" She sighed. "And my brother seems to have been behaving poorly as well."

"You were clear commander, but I believe that both governments were already trying for peace. We stopped the woman who was trying to instigate the war." John eyed her up as he spoke. "If I would've left sooner I believe the situation would have cooled down quicker, but the woman wanted our help to get her men out of the city. In return she would stop her attempts to start a war between the two nations."

Leena sighed and set back in her chair. "The current situations bad actually." She twirled her pen between her fingers. "The earth government has lost their patience with the council. And their ideals cannot hold forever." She closed her eyes. "The failure you two instigated may provide more conflict than you realize."

John turned and stared at the side of the tent. "The councilor aloud me to leave. She knew I would escape because I am what I am." If it wasn't for the damned mercenaries rules. "I have no excuse for my failure. I was the leader of this mission so I will accept full responsibilities. The others were just following my orders."

Leena smiled. The failure wasn't as bad as she was making it out to be. She just couldn't help but torture him a bit. "And if they start a war? The earth government will become too powerful and the other nations will rise against them. more hatred will be fostered and our goals will be lost." He voice remained even and since he couldn't see her smiling he had no idea she was having fun at his expense. Her agents within the capital could keep things calm if need be, John's mission had mostly been to see if he could handle the responsibility and to test his command. The latter wasn't done since they had left behind their men when they entered the city. As for the responsibility the actual mission proved it questionable but his immediate admission to failure and owning the blame was promising. Though she was pretty sure her brother was more to blame than John. "What do you think taking responsibility for such a thing would mean?" She wanted to laugh but suppressed it. "Tell me, John. How should you be punished?" Her teasing may have leaked a tiny bit in that last question, but not enough to be noticed.

"Taking responsibility would mean my men go unpunished." John spoke evenly keeping his gaze firmly on her. "And the appropriate punishment would be whatever the commander sees fit." He didn't quite trust Leena's sincerity on this subject. "If it were me it would be lashings for failure." His voice did not faulter. "And since you're asking me lashings are the only appropriate response to failure."

"Lashings is it?" She shook her head. "I'd hate to ruin such a fine back." She opened her eyes and looked at John. "I don't like lashings. It's a horrid practice and besides I still need you at your strongest." She seemed to consider things for a moment. "I don't know, john. it wouldn't seem right to just let you off and yet if we can't come up with a suitable punishment i'll have to harm you." She sounded regretful. And even though she was teasing him the fact that some reprimand needed to be given was a fact. A simple slap on the wrist would just cause every one of her subordinates to disrespect both her and John both. "A troubling choice indeed."

"Didn't know you held an interest in my body commander." John wasn't usually a man to joke but he felt comfortable enough with Leena. "Maybe a demotion is in order then. It's clear I'm unfit to lead such a delicate operation." He pulled out a cigarette taking his time to light it. "This line of work is more suited towards you, and your pet spy's."

"Oh no. my girls and I are needed elsewhere, john." She smiled and shook her head. "And I really don't think anyone else could work with my brother as well as you do." She tapped her pen on the table as she considered things. "It would seem I must find a task. yes a very unsavory task to give to you." The look in Leena's eyes was playful. She would indeed find such a thing and would find it amusing to have john do it. "Lets see, some thing too simple would be boring. so not simple latrine or mess duty. we'll need something truly difficult." She hummed and leaned back, making a show of thinking it over.
Leena grinned "Perhaps I'll set you on lumber duty. A dangerous job for a human." Lumberjacks work outside in bitter cold and blazing heat. They deal with massive trees and logs that can slip and cause serious injury. The danger, stress and poor pay land lumberjacks made it a widely hated activity. "Yes. That'll do nicely. With no pay obviously. Be sure not to get too beat up." Her smile said she didn't mind him getting a little battered. Besides the crews on clear-out duty were low staffed. And accidents were not uncommon. two of her workers had been seriously injured and one had died. and they weren't even human. She was looking forward to seeing john's struggle.

"You do realize I'm stronger then most, and I do have accelerated healing because of my spirit animal." John exhaled slowly releasing the smoke from his body. "When do I start?"

She smiled. "Tomorrow morning. an hour before dawn. The boys on duty will show the way." Leena knew of his abilities. more so that he knew. She'd kept an eye on him. for observatory purposes mostly, but also to see how well he could control such an unstable condition. She went back to writing. "And I understand your abilities and how you've come to be a tad overconfident in them." He really needed to learn to act as if being hurt was more serious. Especially since it seemed to make his beast act up. "I've had full calgors die on lumber duty. And they were exceptionally strong even for our kind. Your partial human abilities are strong, yes, but not to be depended on like your invincible, john. It's dangerous to put too much stock in them."

"I know my limits Leena, I don't need a keeper." The mission made it very clear he needed to keep an eye on the thing dwell inside of him. "I'm not overconfident in my abilities. Why do think I was hesitant about accepting that promotion of yours." He could already feel anger welling up inside of him. "And if I thought I was invincible why would I bring a sword with me when I went out on that mission. I can handle myself." His breathing was heavy and he glared at the woman. He opened his clenched fist and took deep breaths to calm him down. "I need your advice on something."
