A game of chase in which Ciar was the person being pursued? Not the usual cup of tea, but it was a nice change of pace. Of course, if this calgor thought he was going to get the little reindeer, he was sadly mistaken.
Running along the fence Ciar leaped, landing with a sure footing on a nearby roof, keeping up the steady pace.
"Might I ask," he said, glancing down at Shizuo. "Why you are pursuing me Mr. Hewaijima? Ah, but I suppose there always has to be a hero in shining armor and a dastardly dragon to fight. Unfortunately, you might note, that fairy tales tend not to have such happy endings."
Yellow eyes glinted with mirth as he regarded Shizuo.

Shizuo caught up to the small calgor. His eyes fell to the limp Lazuli. "It'll be alright sweetheart." Flames enveloped his fists. "I don't know how you know who I am, or how you knew what I was doing, but just let her go and this won't end badly for you." He glared back at his glowing eyes.

Oops, it appears as if he's allowed Mr. Hewaijima to get too close. Kicking off the roof he heads to a dusty alleyway, but he keeps the fire calgor within sight. It's never good to lose track of one's enemy. That's just bad business. Pressing his free hand against the wall the calgor looked up towards Shizuo with a grin. "It's my job to know."
Not wasting anymore time with idle chat, because he does remember he has a job to do, the calgor slips into the darkness like a serpent. It was time to head to the boarder.
He hopes that if Mr. Hewaijima decides to pursue him through the alley, he likes the present Ciar has so graciously left for him. It was going to be a real enlightening experience, he was sure.

Ember recognized the decaying scent in the air. She swore and lunged for the door, fazing into her fire fox form immediately. 'DROP HER!' She screamed in mind speech as she caught sight of the man on the fence. She landed next to Shizou, recognizing the annoying man but feeling he wasn't against her at the moment. The red fox snarled. chest low and ears flat, she'd rip the beast's throat out if he tried anything.

Ciar let a curse leave his lips as agitation set in. Gold eyes darkened as they landed on the enraged fire fox.
"As much fun as it would be to play with you," he said, warm and kind facade returning. Gold eyes slipped to Lazuli's limp form before returning to look at Ember. "I have property to return and I've let my employer wait long enough."
Without another word he slipped away. Ciar wasn't going to leave this job incomplete, he wasn't going to be bested by these children.

Shizuo chased after him blindly. "Drop her!" He let a fireball go wild with his right hand and grabbed a nearby pipe with his left. "You won't escape easily!"

A wicked grin crossed the calgor's face as he turned to look at Shizuo. "But I'll still escape."
Instead of smashing into a building headlong the calgor-with Lazuli in tow-suddenly disappeared in a puff of smoke. It was such a shame this ability didn't last long with passengers, but it would help him evade.

Shizuo swung coming close to the calgor catching nothing but the black smoke. "Where the hell are you punk." He looked all around him trying to find the elusive calgor. He shouldn't care this much about a girl he just met, but the small girl reminded him of someone. He growled punching the nearby wall. "Come out you coward!"

Yeah, fat chance that was going to happen. Whether or not he was cowardly had nothing to do with this. He was given a job, and it was going to be completed one way or another.
It didn't take long to reach the gate of the city. Ciar spared a glance down at Lazuli. It was a pity, really. The girl seemed to have promise, but he wasn't going to get sentimental now.
Faking that he was a traveler and that Lazuli was a sleeping cousin had been easier than Ciar had expected. He'd heard many good things about the defenses of this city, but thus far these guards were giving Kalama a bad name. They should really think of replacing these fellows with more competent individuals.

Ember smiled. Laz was valued alive it would seem. She would be in little danger of dying. 'And I can smell his stink.' She darted in and snatched Flint. He fazed and allowed Ember to carry him in her jaws. He was used to the evacuation routine. She streaked through the gates with the kitten. keeping well back and downwind from the man. 'What ever bastard claims ownership of my sister and sent this beast to reclaim her... I will kill them.' Her voice was cold and Flint sighed. Ember wound never listen to reason now.

Lazuli stirred, eyes slowly creaking open, her head really hurt. What had-Eyes widened and the water calgor tensed up as she remembered what had happened. "Will I have to knock you out again, or are you going to be a good little captive and be still?" he questioned, but Lazuli made no effort to reply. She was kind of pouting at the moment. Though she did mutter something under her breath. "What was that?"
"Cheater," she muttered out, and he simply chuckled.
"For a captive-whose life I hold in my hands-you certainly are loose with the words you speak." She made no move to respond, preferring to continue her pouting, but her sapphire eyes were calculating. "With that look I assume you have a plan?"
She finally looked like she was going to talk. "I'm going to hurt him really bad."
That caught him off guard, to think this quiet little calgor was going to hurt her master, but it's always the quiet ones, isn't it?
"He's probably going to kill me, might as well get in a good shot," she muttered. "Give him a reminder of me when I'm gone."
"Can't wait to see the show."
"Not going to try and protect him?" she said, glancing up at him. "Once I get my money I have no obligations to him," he remarks with a toothy grin. "So he'll be all yours, kid."
"You don't even care if you get paid, do you?" she questioned. Was that a smirk on her face. Looked like one. "You're just in it for the fun."
"Oh, little reindeer, you do understand," he chuckled darkly. "Yes, I do these things for pure enjoyment, to just stir up ill things."

Maim ran alongside Ember easily keeping up pace. "Obviously something went wrong with our sweet Lazuli."
'We need to save her!' Joy chimed in fully awake now.
"I suppose I could help you on your little quest child." She spoke to Ember. "After all you did save Joy from a world of hurt."

Ember didn't like maim. Joy was annoying but she was used to little kids. Maim just pressed her buttons somehow. Ember shot cold fire at the girl without faltering. 'Your welcome to follow. But do. not. interfere.' She was ready to kill and would not appreciate an interference. 'Whatever is behind this will know its place soon enough.'

It was the next day before they made it to the boarder of the Water Territory and thus far his captive had been quiet and cooperative. He'd managed to steal a carriage which made travel much easier and even though he hated leaving witnesses alive, the water calgor had somehow convinced him to let them go. Of course, Ciar still ended up breaking both of one traveler's legs, and possibly knocked the other into a coma. Killing probably would have been more merciful.
Just off in the distance he could see Seaway City.

Flint hated seeing his Ember like this. Her single minded fury had her in a semiconscious state. She had ignored anything other than her stalking of the rotting man who took lazuli. Flint dozed in kitten form within ember's hood. He refused to allow her out of his reach in fear of being left behind. He was also afraid of where they were headed. Water territory held cruel memories for him. A few years ago he was nearly killed as he fled human territory. He'd only survived thanks to his spirit animal's instincts.
Ember growled as she used her sense of smell to follow the man's path. it had been easier before he stole the carrage but a faint trace of the odor remained. Without her extremely good nose she would had failed at tracking him since he left nearly no evidence of his passage.
