It was a slow evening in the fireworks factory and flint was given his own pit to fire. He didn't like the distance from Ember and protested weakly as he rubbed his small eyes.
"It means your own money." Ember reminded the boy. "You did want that green overcoat, didn't you?" She had caught flint eyeing the expensive cloth several times as they passed the city square. It was a more human like fashion and meant for a girl but flint seemed to love it never-the-less. The boy nodded meekly and glanced at the shadowed hole. "And look." Ember added. "It's right across from us girls." She pointed to the larger pit just across an isle from the boy's smaller hole.
Flint smiled bravely and hopped down into the hole. a soft glow soon shown and grew in heat till it was stable and bright.

Lazuli watched but could do little else. She wasn't a fire calgor after all.

"What an utter disappointment." Maim controlled a fire snake along her burnt arm. It shamed her that this side of her body was the only one that could control her abilities. The snake hissed coming close to her cheek. "In a past life I believe I had one such of these pets, twas a viscous animal but we understood each other." She ran a finger underneath it's chin. "Such a beautiful creature." She ignored all else around here talking into the air.

Ember nodded as soon as she felt flint was well into his job before stepping down onto her station. She gestured for Laz to follow. most would find it much too hot but she knew laz could keep herself cool discretely. she herself was used to the heat and found it comforting.

Lazuli perked up a bit and stood, following after her sister. It was hot and she found ice already forming a thin layer to keep herself cool with a will of it's own. Despite the ability to cool herself off she still felt uncomfortable with the cloak on her but decided against taking it off. The tunic underneath had no sleeves and that just wouldn't do.

"Can't handle the heat dear Lazuli?" Maim smirked filling in behind them. "One would expect a water calgor to be wary of the heat."

"It's not so bad," the water calgor said meekly. She could handle this temperature with minimal discomfort. Though she'd seen water calgors in Seaway complain when the sun just got a little hotter than normal, so it probably just depended on one's tolerance.

Ember's interest was peeked at that. She never knew other water calgors had such difficulty with the heat. Laz never showed such any time before. "Well I can also handle extreme cold unlike other fire calgors." She told maim. She'd once seen Flint suffer when the temperature wasn't even near freezing. that was when she first saw that her tolerance was odd. "Makes sense that lazuli is ok with the heat. She is my twin after all." She was expressionless as she controlled her fire but her words were proud.

'I'm fine with the cold to!' Joy yelled happily arousing from her mental slumber.
"Quite down child, I do not wish for my inner thoughts to be bombarded with your loud intrusions." Maim lifted her hood over her face. "What a awfully dreadful place this is." She moaned bored wishing she had an older form.

That did make sense. Lazuli smiled softly as she made sure to stay out of the way, but after a while the heat began to get to her, proving that she'd reached her limits.
"I'm going to go and get some air," the water calgor said gently. "I'll be back in a little bit."

Ember nodded. "Not too far, Laz. There are some who can smell the water on you." She sniffed as if she spoke of an actual scent. "Though you smell enough of the streets that it may help to hide you."

"I'll be sure to stay near," Lazuli said, as she made her way out of the pit. Heading for an exit that didn't see much traffic the calgor slipped through and out into the open air. The cooler air rushed to meet her.
Opening the cloak a little more the girl went to sit over near a few decaying boxes. Closing her eyes the water calgor took in a deep breath before letting it out with a heavy sigh.
"Cooling off, little reindeer?" She didn't even open her eyes to acknowledge him. There was a sigh of movement and she could sense that there was now someone resting atop the decaying boxes just next to her. Opening her eyes she was met with that one bright yellow eye glinting at her from beneath dark strands of unkempt hair.
He didn't look exactly the same, save for the color of his eyes and she found that peculiar.
"You know you owe me some answers," Lazuli said in a mater-of-fact tone, earning a dark chuckle from the calgor. "Do I?" he questioned, stepping lightly off of the box and onto the ground without a sound.
"Yes," even though she was being quite assertive she felt her heart pounding quicker as he drew a little closer. Warning bells went off in her head, but she stood her ground. "You said you cheated. Therefore you owe me some answers."
"Fair enough," he replied simply. "What would you like to know?"
"Who are you?"
"I haven't a name," he provided and she leveled a pretty good glare at him. Well about as good of a glare as she could muster up. He seemed amused by it more than intimidated though. "Just call me Ciar."
"Okay then, Ciar, why are you doing this? I doubt my former master is paying you well."
"Perhaps it's to kill two birds with one stone, hm?" the calgor said with a serpent like grin. She really didn't like the sound of that. Oh look at the time, she needed to get back into the factory. Backing up slowly she decided to go for the door, only to have her arm snagged by the dark haired calgor.
"Tsk, tsk, I believe I've given you more than enough time."

Shizuo grabbed the young calgor by the shoulder. "How about living the young lady alone." He stood towering over the man giving himself an imposing look. He had been on his way to check on the kid when he saw the shadowy calgor approach Lazuli. "You wouldn't want this to escalate."

"Don't you have a rich brat to check on?" he questioned. Before much else could be done or said the calgor had a hold of Lazuli by her cloak, tugging her into a vice like grip. Using his other hand he bashed a fist over the back of her head, knocking the water calgor unconscious.
Leaping onto a fence, a grin that stretched far too wide to be normal graced his face, he turned to lock eyes with Shizuo. "Be careful on what you get into, Mr. Hewaijima. I have delivery to make and it'd be in your best interest not to get in my way."

Shizuo growled and chased after the boy. "Get back here!"
