"I wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for the blood." Prodigious eyes furrowed together. This was actually beginning to bother him. 'Why didn't I feel that.' He wondered. He could feel the woman pull his wound close with the needle, but there was no pain.

Bridget tsked at her patient. "That would explain your ignorant refusal to mind your limits. Humans need a bit of pain to remind us we're mortal." She cut the thread and began applying ointment onto the wounds. "Otherwise we weak being tend to develop a bit of a god complex. We're definitely prideful and ambitious beings at heart." She smiled. "Except maybe Mistress Rein. She's an oddity to us."

"She certainly is something else isn't she?" He smiled along with the nurse. "I think I would have ended up going crazy if it wasn't for her coming around." Prodigious covered up a cough as the woman tended his wounds. "My name is Prodigious by the way. It's nice to meet you... I want to say Bridget." He hoped this was the woman Rein always talked about. "You were the woman that made me that soup right? Rein talks about you alot."

Bridget nodded tersely. "I've been Mistress Rein's wet nurse for years. I'm supposed to be a 'mother figure' but I'm mostly just a stern friend instead." Bridget smiled remembering. "I was very small when Dimmerein was born. Her mother was the loveliest... soul i'd ever known." She was saddened by her thoughts. "I've yet to meet anyone as genuinely kind and compassionate as the master's wife." Bridget's hands didn't falter as she thought aloud. She quickly and tightly bound his wounds, boh bandaging and wrapping them as tight as she could so he'd keep from reopening them. "Miss Rein takes after both her parents." Now bridget was smiling again. "Overly kind and as freely caring as her mother and as stupidly stubborn and bold like her father." She seemed to find it ironic as she described her young charge. "A difficult miss to look after for sure."
Rein was happy with her friends assesment of her. Even as she was sure she deserved less praise and more complaints. She'd been lost in thought and forgot that without her humming or purposely making noise of any kind she was extremely quiet even in her whispering dresses. The effect of the leggings she'd traded her skirts for made her completely silent. She'd listened to the latter part of her friends explanation and suppressed a sigh. She nearly always refused to talk of her mother. It made the servants sad and pitying and her father angry and hurt. She could always hear his forever keening pain when he spoke of his missing love. The only evidence Rein had that her father was once a very different man.

"She is certainly compassionate, that is pretty clear." Prodigious felt the rough side of the bandages as his hand went across his body. "Thank you for this."

Rein giggled and entered the room. She stepped silently to Prodigious's side, showing no chagrin at eavesdropping. "Black and ominous." She declared as she passed the clothes to him. "And since Bridget can probably fix up your cape it'll suit your theatrical tendencies just fin." She giggled again. "I do wonder how you developed such habits but I guess I'll have to be patient." She sighed obviously not liking her curiosity being unanswered but not unhappy with the idea of being patient. She grinned. "But you'll have to tell me as soon as you recall, okay?" She was completely sure that he'd both remember and tell her immediately. "I'll count it as my reward for clothing and housing you." She turned to bridget. "I'm keeping him." She didn't seem to notice that she was acting very much like he was a stray pet she'd planned on picking up. "There's that old loft above the stables. And since papa sold off all our pretty horses it's empty of both animals and workers." She seemed proud of herself for thinking up the idea. "It'll need cleaning." She thought aloud. "But I'm sure he can handle it." She smiled toward Prodigious, missing him slightly since he didn't make much noise for her to orient herself around. "I'd help, but I'm no good at cleaning."
Bridget sighted and shook her head. 'Just like a child with a new toy.' Bridget knew it wasn't exactly true tho. She understood her charge's personality and knew Rein was only trying to protect those who were too weak or disoriented to take care of themselves. "I take it you expect me to keep all this from the master." She sighed and shook her head again. "I'll place his meals out by the old oak." She stood and shot one last glance at the two before leaving the room with a bundle of dirty rags and clothes to be washed and minded.

Prodigious corrected her gaze by adjusting her head with his hand. "I'm over here." He failed at hiding his laugh. "Thank you for the clothes.... and for a place to stay Rein, but you really didn't have to do that for me." He hopped down from his place on the counter. "I can fend for my own... I think." He scratched the back of his neck feeling his closed wounds stretch. "Speaking of memories, a few of them have come back."

Rein blushed but kept her stormy eyes trained on the man. "I want to help." She argued. The curiosity filling her eyes begged for him to tell her what he'd recalled but she knew she'd not push right away. "No one's using the building and you don't have the money for a room right now." She smiled tentatively. "And I really doubt you'd be able to work with your reputation not to mention your wounds." She pouted. "And it's too cold for camping here without the right supplies."

Prodigious smiled patting the girls head. "You're to nice for your own good." He put on the new shirt smelling the fabric. "You're lucky I'm not some jerk who would just take advantage of your kindness."

Rein grinned. "it doesn't matter even if those i help take advantage or not" She looked defiant. as if this were a topic she'd argued on before. "It'd be the same either way. I'd be giving all I could. It makes up for papa's lack of generosity."

Prodigious stood straight and looked at the girl. He closed his eyes and connected his mind with hers. 'Rein please be careful with your generosity, I don't want to see something happen to you.' He looked her straight in the eyes knowing the gesture was pointless with her loss of eyesight. 'There are alot of bad people out there.' He closed off their link as the strain became to much to bear through his pain. "I really need to stop pushing myself so hard." He said in a laughy tone

"Yes. You do." Her expression was sad but her tone light enough to keep the sting out. "I'm aware of the dangers my softness poses but..." She shook her head "to loose the generosity and become closed off... would be terribly sad."
