Lazuli wasn't sure how everything was going to turn out. It hadn't taken them long to get into Seaway and even less time to reach her Master's house. Going through the iron gates the young water calgor winced as they slammed shut behind them.
She was lead by Ciar into the parlor of the ornate house. Her master was standing in front of the large window that gave a wonderful view of the city. She used to try and get a glimpse of that view any time she was able, it always cheered her up. Of course now it did little to comfort her.
He turned to look at her, and she could feel the familiar feeling of ice forming along her forearm, slowly crawling downwards to begin the process of forming razor sharp claws. Taking in a calming breath she allowed the ice to recede a little. Not yet...
"I brought your slave back," the calgor said, and her Master's face lit up brightly.
"Wonderful work," he said with a grin as he stalked towards the two like some sort of big cat stalking it's prey. Lazuli went to back up, but a firm hand on her shoulder kept her from moving. She watched as her master paid Ciar, the calgor looked lazily towards her and cocked an eyebrow, but she made no move or acknowledgement.
Ciar shrugged and with that the dark haired calgor made his leave, money in tow. Once the door clicked shut her master closed the distance and smacked her across the face, sending the young calgor reeling backwards. She managed to catch herself on a table, and placed her hand on her stinging cheek.
When her Master grabbed her arm she brought up her other hand, the familiar feeling of freezing cold enveloping her whole arm. Her sharp ice claws cut through the calgor's sleeve and into his arm as if it were butter and not flesh. Her master let out a startled grunt and he regarded her with something between shock and disbelief. Then like a switch that face went from shocked to pure rage.
Thankfully her instincts kicked in and she managed to get out of the path of his fist before it connected with the top of her head. With how he was swinging now that probably would have been a fatal hit. Backpedaling the girl made sure to keep him in her sight.
The young calgor let out a yelp when she felt something grab onto her arm, and realized a little to late that it was ice. When had he-Pupils shrank as she felt an icy coolness tear through her stomach, digging in deep. He'd formed some form of crude ice dagger while she'd been distracted by her trapped arm.
He looked just a little too pleased with himself as he looked down at her, and even with her stomach searing in pain the girl managed to form claws on her other hand. Without a second thought the water calgor lunged forward, grunting in pain when the dagger dug in deeper, and sank her claws into her master's throat. He was surprised, but it still wasn't enough she realized weakly. At least he pulled back, giving her some space to breathe. The ice dagger evaporated then and allowed the wound in her stomach to bleed freely.
Her master called in some guards then, but none came. That was curious she thought weakly as she sank to the floor.

Ember met ciar at the door. She'd knocked out and trapped the guards with little effort and before the man could react encircled his neck in a ring of flames. "You've been paid. I see no reason for you to remain here." She nodded when he made no move to confront her and lunged for the door.
ember was furious. The second she saw her sister on the floor and bleeding out she let out a scream of unimaginable rage. The room lit with near blinding light as she surrounded herself and the large room in pure white flames. "Lazuli!" She called but could tell her twin was loosing consciousness. Her tears were angry ones as her fire began to condense.
The resulting swirls of heat were heavy and harder to control. the temperature was nearly unbearable even to her. The spirals of flame darted to the man who stood above the growing pool of Lazuli's blood. "Die." She whispered as sweat began to dampen her red hair. "Die and rot in hell!" The streams of pure flame coiled their searing tendrils around the man's flesh with a satisfying hiss and revolting odor. and encircled him in a burning prison where she was content to let him slowly suffer as the flames gently licked his blistering flesh.
With a sob she kneeled beside Lazuli. The blood was heavy but not too dark. Her organs were intact. She sobbed again in relief; there was still a chance she could be saved.
OOC: wow ember's scary. And btw we should probably shift our thread to Seaway city...

OOC: Moved . Oop, there goes Lazuli's unnamed master. Byyyyyyeeeeee! My brain is currently frying. All my characters are derpy, what do I do?! ;A; IC: Ciar watched from just outside, not at all fazed by Ember's display of utter fury. It was glorious really, but there was a tugging on the back of his mind. Something telling him to intervene. Pulling out a hourglass like pendant from his cloak the man glanced at it. There was an agitated roll of his eyes as he regarded the shiny little trinket that seemed to glint at him on purpose. "Really, old lady?" He gave a little tut before placing it back inside his cloak and striding unabated into the searing hot room. This place was going to go up all the way if this girl couldn't control herself. He watched as the heat began to take its toll on not only Ember, but Lazuli. The girl looked like hell. Walking over to her he grinned. "That was quite the display there little reindeer, I thought you had him there for a little bit. Listen, the old lady likes you and so I've got a deal for you. Sound good?" Bleary eyes blinked and she couldn't really focus on anything. She knew Ember was here, and that was bad. It wasn't safe...Then she could see Ciar. The calgor-no the creature in disguise was grinning down at her and she tried to listen to what he was saying. Taking in a shaky breath the girl nodded, not entirely sure what she was agreeing to. "I'll save you," he began, and she could tell-even in her semi-conscious state-that there were strings attached. "But you must accompany me afterwards to meet someone. So, what's it going to be? I'd hurry, I can feel your soul leaving your body and then you'll meet the old lady anyway and let me just say this-meeting her when you're dead won't be as nice." Originally the water calgor was supposed to die, that had been the idea all along, but now the old hag was changing her mind again. Sometimes Ciar wondered why he bothered, oh yeah, he was bound to the old lady whether he liked it or not. Eternity was turning out to be hell... OOC: Ciar's life/after life actually sucks a whooooole lot, but nobody cares because he's a jerk. Woooo! BTW my brain stopped making sense when Ciar appeared. I have no idea what on earth he is or what his purpose is other than to be a colossal jerk and to be bi-polar about everything. Though he really would leave Lazzy to fate if the old ha-delightful woman would just let him. I don't want to make him too powerful and he isn't really because he's bound to the will of the mysterious old lady. Also the old lady won't appear except to say hi to dead characters and whisk them off to oblivion, I mean, heaven Tedious explaining, complete!

OOC: my brain does the same. so no worries. I have no idea whats up with my characters half the time. IC: Ember lowered her flames around the room and added some surrounding herself and Laz. Her deep blue and frigid flames would be more suitable for her twin. Ember had no idea what the man was on about. 'What old lady?' The screams were getting annoying as her fire continued to torture the man who'd stabbed Lazuli. "What do you mean you can feel her soul lipping!?" She demanded. She looked down at her sister. She'd folded her cloak and pressed it into the wound to staunch the bleeding but that wouldn't last long. "And if she's going somewhere with you I'll be going too!" there was no way she'd allow Laz out of her sight again for a long while. not after this.

Ciar kneeled down in front of Lazuli, batting away the blue flames that surrounded the duo so he could see properly. When the little fire calgor began to throw a hissy fit about her sister slipping into oblivion the calgor rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Her soul is about to enter the after life, now move over so I can do my job."
He was going to demand a raise for this. Reaching into his cloak the calgor pulled out a vile that was in the shape of a skull. "Take a deep breath and hold still."
Lazuli took in a shuttering breath and when the liquid inside of the vile hit her wound, it was like liquid fire. The clear liquid consumed her from the inside out until her skin felt like it was going to boil off. If this was him helping then she was going to have a serious talk with him once this agony stopped about the definition of helping. Finally the pain was replaced by a soothing coolness that made her want to fall asleep, but that wasn't going to happen. She had a creepy monster thing to nag at.
"That was...w-worse t-than the k-knife w-wound," she croaked out, half heartedly glaring at him. "W-What w-was that?"
"I am terribly sorry, but a magician never reveals their secrets," he remarked before standing. Now it was time to open the portal-which required a sacrifice-but looked like the smoldering calgor would do just fine. He'd have to whisk the idiot off to the after-life anyway, so might as well kill two birds with one stone here. Walking lazily over to the writhing calgor Ciar kicked him to the ground, until he was laying flat on his back. Looking over at Ember he shrugged.
"Probably not a good idea. You go in, you die, but the old lady is in a good mood today. She might let you tag along."

Ember smiled with a look that screamed rebellion. "Laz isn't going alone." She glared at the man and doused her fire that wanted to eat this new man too. 'not when I need his assistance.' she reminded herself. 'we can burn him later.' She tightened her hold on laz. The wound was gone. She was angery that it had caused do much pain an refused to feel thankful towards the man who'd likely just saved her twin's life. 'besides, he said it was for hi sown gain.' Her suspicions were growing.

Ignoring her the calgor walked towards Lazuli's master. "Well, time to die."
The water calgor did nothing more than twitch, unable to move his burnt body and unable to voice his obvious fear. He could see him. He could see what this thing actually looked like and it terrified him to his core.
"Look away kiddies, this is going to get...unpleasant," the calgor said not really caring, before stabbing his hand into the water calgor's chest. Ciar noted how there wasn't that much blood, more than likely due to the intense heat from before, but thankfully there was just enough to write out the symbols he needed.
Then the whole room lit up like a firework. Intricate symbols crawling all across the floor-centering in on Lazuli's master before the calgor's body was illuminated and disintegrated away. "Remember to keep all limbs in the portal for safety. We don't want you losing a limb after all."
Reaching down the calgor picked up Lazuli by the back of her cloak and threw her unceremoniously into the portal an 'eep' exiting the young calgor's mouth. "Well, no screams of agony. That's a good sign."
With that Ciar slipped inside after the water calgor, motioning for Ember to follow.

Ember didn't hesitate. She leapt in after Laz before the thing called Ciar even asked. It hurt. He hadn't exaggerated. but Ember gritted her teath and bared the agony in silence until she found herself once again with her twin. 'Now where the hell are we.' She thought as she first checked to make sure laz was fine. She herself was panting from the effort of silencing her pain. She adjusted her cloak and sighed. It would seem they'd at least made it through in one piece. "Not to say we'll make it back as easily.

Lazuli sat up shakily looking towards her sister, thankful that Ember was still in one piece. Looking around she saw Ciar heading for a large building-no a castle. His true form was revealed then, instead of a calgor, there stood a creature of nightmares. The sharp edge of decay hit her nose, causing her to sneeze,as soulless yellow eyes regarded the duo.
She could get a better look at him now that she wasn't running from him. He stood on two legs, though it was obvious he could run on all fours with ease. One could also see that he was chained. Eyes squinted as she tried to get a better look at him in the dusk. The chains weren't simply on him, they were in him and when he moved the cloak he wore slipped open, revealing an open chest where a heart was beating-the chains wrapped around it securely. The ones not around his heart dug into his skin and hung loosely down, rattling eerily as he moved.
"Let us be on our way." With that he lead the twins into the ornate castle and made his way towards a large door. "Wait here."
Regardless of whether they heeded his words or not the creature entered room, closing the door behind him.

Ember grabbed hold of Laz's hand. 'Disgusting beastie' She thought impartially. she had seem many beasts and many men. She was quite aware of the fact that one does not choose their form and shouldn't be judges solely on it. 'Still I don't like it's personality much.' She squeezed laz's hand having already resigned herself to the inevitable.

Lazuli returned the pressure that was applied to her hand as she waited for Ciar to return. There was a soft clicking noise before the door was pushed open and a gnarled hand slipped out, motioning the two in. His voice rumbled softly, "You may come in."
Doing as instructed, because she realized that there was no way out unless they listened, the calgor continued to hold her sister's hand as they walked inside. The room that they stepped into was completely different than what she thought it'd be. It was beautiful in here. There were ornate walls with beautiful marble arches that swooped overhead and those too held intricate symbols within them.
Sitting on a throne of sorts was a woman with dark hair and lava green eyes. She seemed pleased when her eyes landed on the duo. "Welcome."

Ember did as she always did. She dealt with uncertainty and threats with anger. Much like the fox she was. She stood her ground when faced with the frightening woman. She was a fierce kind of lovely but Ember felt it wasn't all truth. She really wasn't one to be won over by pretty camouflage. She gave a cold and calm look but didn't glare as she wanted. She knew it was a bad idea to openly challenge this woman in her own territory. At least their host seemed to be in a good mood. "We're honored to be issued an invitation." She told the woman. "We only wish to have had the time and knowledge to prepare ourselves properly." She bowed her head in greeting. "As it is, though we know not you nor your circumstances it is obvious that we find ourselves in the presence of one deserving more than we can offer." Ember went quiet. She hadn't spent so much time around Leena without learning such things. 'Show respect to those that deserve it. Even if they may turn out to be less than allies.'

"Most never have time to prepare for Death," the woman chuckled warmly. There was an obvious agenda here as her eyes fell onto Lazuli. "It would appear that you have managed to avoid my scale, young one. It's quite embarrassing on my part, I don't often take back what I order."
Lazuli blinked in confusion as she looked at the fair skinned woman. "So you...ordered my death?"
"Yes, as Fate had ordained," she said with a soft sigh, almost as if this 'Fate' had a mind of their own, and perhaps they did. "To be honest you're still slated to die, but I've managed to tweak the rules in your favor."
"Not that I'm not happy that it's been put in my favor," Lazuli said shyly, unable to look away from those lively green eyes. "But why?"
"If I had a legitimate answer I'm sure Fate wouldn't be nagging in my ear currently, but it's because I just happen to like you. Though I recommend you tread cautiously because this is a one time only deal. Anything after this and if you die you're dead for good, understand? I can't bend the rules again."

Ember grinned. 'I like her.' She rarely felt so and it was surprising. She chuckled. "You throw fate off it's tracks for entertainment?" She asked. "I find that extremely likable." She chuckled again. "And I can't say I fault you for liking Laz either." She squeezed her hand. "But I think I'll ask the same as my sister. Why is it she interests you so much?" She had to admit; although she had her suspicions she was enjoying this.

"Well it is fun to watch such flustered expressions alight her face. When I can get away with it that is," the woman said, green eyes glowing with mirth. At the question of why she took a liking to Lazuli the woman tilted her head to the side in contemplation. "She finally stood up to her master. We were all in shock because that wasn't how it was supposed to happen. You threw Fate into a tizzy little one, and anyone that can do that deserves leniency in my book."
